It is a lot easier to install and most home owners with little roofing experience can install it themselves. They are mostly used in garages and sheds and not for most home roofs due to their plain and simple design.   1. Asphalt Shingle Roof

Made from composite material, the asphalt shingles are the most common roofing material available. They are highly durable containing a mix of glass, asphalt, ceramic, quartz, slate and other materials. They are popular in most home due to the fact that they are easy to install and cost less and last longer than other roofing materials. They can last from 20 to 50 years depending on the quality of material used and can cost as much as $5 per square foot to install.

  1. Metal Roofing

Metal roofs are also popular in areas that are prone to the dangers of wildfire. The standing seam metal roofs are produced from steel panels that are laid on the roof. The materials used include copper, zinc, aluminium or steel. This type of roof is durable and requires little maintenance. They can last up to 50 years and can cost between $10 and $20 per square foot depending in the material used.

  1. Wood Roofing

Natural wood is another roofing material that you can roof your house with. While they are easy to install, it is important that you know that wood is highly flammable which is why you wouldn’t want to use this type of roofing if you are in a region that suffers from routine wildfires.
